Blood is said to be thicker than water, and in the case of Mzansi Magic’s latest drama, this is far from the truth.

Attesting to its ingenuity for authentic storytelling, Mzansi Magic releases yet another brand new modern day drama series in the form of Igazi. The series will launch on Sunday, 10 April 2016 at 20:00 on Mzansi Magic, DStv Channel 161.

Set against the backdrop of Johannesburg and the valley hills beyond Coffee Bay in the Eastern Cape, Igazi is a classic tale of magic, myth and melodrama. This drama tells the story of a Xhosa royal family in conflict over its throne. As the family is at war with itself and magical forces of darkness, a man is forced into the battle for his father’s kingdom. He has to overcome his own demons and accept his destiny. The path ahead is filled with many complications that lead to one question: will the rightful king reign?

“Igazi comes hot on the heels of the success of Mzansi Magic’s Sesotho drama series, Ya Lla, demonstrating the channel’s commitment to representing South Africa’s diversity. We have created a modern fable which is rooted in deep history, drawing from the symbols and beliefs about dark magic. We are pushing the boundaries with Igazi and we hope that the audiences will be enchanted”, says Reneilwe Sema, Head of Drama for Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.

Breathing life into the characters is a star-studded cast which includes veteran actress Nomhle Nkonyeni, Jet Novuka, Allen Booi, Peter Sephuma, Zandile Msutwana, Thami Mngqolo, Anga Makubalo, Charmaine Mtinta, Zikhona Sodlaka, Zenande Mfenyane, Vatiswa Ndara, Mnatha Vika and Talitha Ndima.

Produced by Ferguson Films, Igazi is sure to have viewers on the edge of their seats every Sunday on Mzansi Magic Channel 161 at 20:00.
