Mzansi Magic is turning up the volume this season with the theme, BAZOZWA. The theme was revealed at the Big Brother Mzansi season 6 launch event, at a location styled like Biggie's house. The brand hosted media and guests to an unforgettable, house-party style reunion. Alumni from Big Brother Mzansi season 3, Themba Broly; Big Brother Titans: Khosi Twala and Siyamthanda Jwacu; S’yamosha: Mich, Makhekhe, Yolanda, Lerato Modise Neo, Young Papi, Taki, and Willy; and from Umlilo: Sweet Guluva, Uyanda, Nsuku, Nate, Beekay, Ezra, Bonnie Bee, Mandy Hagan, Mata, Melino, Mshini, Nate, Siphesihle, Tyrone, and Savage all made the exclusive guest list, setting the tone for a season that’s about to get louder! Former housemate Muzi-theMbuzi kept guests energised and dancing until midnight with a stunner DJ set.
Returning host, Smash Afrika, led a lively Q&A session with Shirley Adonisi, Channel Director of General Entertainment. Speaking about the reason behind the theme, “BAZOZWA is about reclaiming space and making noise, a call to action for a generation that refuses to be ignored and silenced. This time, we are bringing Mzansi a season that will shake the house and the streets like never before.”
BAZOZWA comes with new game mechanics that will keep housemates on edge and viewers guessing, because with Biggie, the only constant is surprises. One of the big additions is the introduction of two new shows on Thursday and Friday – one being a sit down with the evicted housemate and the other being a roundup of all the week’s drama.
“Big Brother Mzansi BAZOZWA will be felt in what you see, what you hear, and how you experience the show. The activities in the house, courtesy of our sponsors, and the housemates, all things will display how loud you can be or how silent you can be, because silence can speak volumes,” Adonisi added.
The excitement surrounding the season is already evident, with a record-breaking number of entries, the highest in Big Brother Mzansi history, showing just how many South Africans are ready to step into the spotlight!
Viewers can expect contestants filled with big personalities, bold dreamers and game-changers, all determined to win the prize and the nation’s heart. The real question is: Who will rise?
The event also included a panel discussion of its new show, Big Brother Mzansi: The Special, a four-part series set to bring together housemates from Umlilo and S’yamosha to reflect on their journeys.
Speaking to the inspiration of the show, Adonisi explained “People always wonder what happens to the housemates after they leave the house. We wanted to give the viewers the closure and the nostalgic feeling of their favourites back in one room again. It’s about closure, entertainment, accountability, and a bit of redemption, but also, it’s about celebrating the impact the show continues to have.”
Big Brother Titans winner Khosi Thwala, who joined the panel, spoke about the realities of life after the show: “When you leave the house, three things hit you at once: you’re confused; there’s pressure from both family and your newfound fan base; and you may not have financial literacy. I had to find a company to help me invest my money. The platform pushes you to grow, and the friendships you build stay with you.”
Viewers can watch Big Brother Mzansi: The Special from Sunday 14 December at 17:00, with the new season, Big Brother Mzansi season 6, set to premiere on the Sunday 11 January 2026 at 18:00.
Big Brother Mzansi season 6 is proudly sponsored by headline partner Lottostar, associate sponsors Chillers Punch and King Pie, and tactical sponsors Robertsons Spices, and welcome Zakhaa Pay and Schweppes.
“When Biggie shakes the house, all of Mzansi will shake and they’re going to feel us … Bazozwa!”
All the drama will be broadcast on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) and 24/7 on DStv channel 198. Join the conversation on social media using #BBMzansiS6 #Bazozwa #BBMzansiSpecial and connect with us on Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok.
