BBMzansi: Soxx and Tembi evicted!

11 May 2015
They won R 25 000 each just two days ago, but last night (Sunday, May 10) Soxx and Tembi, from Port Elizabeth and the Wild Coast respectively, were evicted from Big Brother Mzansi: Double Trouble after spending 49 days in the reality series. They are the last pair to be evicted prior to next week’s big Finale (Sunday, May 17) on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) during which time one of the remaining three pairs will win R 2 million!

This week, the show started when series host Lungile Radu reminded audiences that there were four pairs remaining in the game, of which two pairs (Chelsea and Mbali plus Soxx and Tembi) were nominated for possible eviction this time around. Meanwhile the other two pairs (Ace and Ntombi plus Blue and K2) were assured of a spot in the finale. With that scene-setter established, Lungile then introduced an insert featuring last week’s evictees Kay and Pumba.

Both housemates were looking forward to different things after leaving the game with Pumba wanting to catch up on current affairs while Kay was especially pleased that she wouldn’t have to hear Biggie’s morning alarm any more.  After the quick catch up with Kay and Pumba, Lungile then went straight into a recap of the past week which began with Housemates playing for the title in the Head of House games.

As always, the HoH games were both demanding and interesting - in the individual challenge the housemates had to move a metal ring along a metal hand in 60 seconds or less, without the metals ever touching. Meanwhile in the team challenge Housemates had to count the seconds to a minute on a big clock and manually move the minute hand clockwise until a whole hour had passed.  With Blue and K2 already holding an immunity advantage from 3 weeks earlier which they have not used, the duo didn’t really need the Head of House title and the immunity from nomination that it comes with it.  But the pair still went all out and at the end of the day they emerged victorious. So, as the latest HoH’s, Blue and K2 were immune from nominations this week.

With Ace and Ntombi scoring no nominations and with no ‘save and replace’ opportunity available, nominees this week were Chelsea and Mbali plus Soxx and Tembi. And so with that news revealed to the housemates on Monday, the week progressed forward…

And what a week it was!

The cool ‘Lost in Time’ task saw the Housemates having to travel to different ‘time zones’ and play different characters in each one.  From punk rockers to pirates, hippies to zombies, the Wild West to Prehistoric times, and even a Futuristic Robot era, the Housemates were suitably dressed in ‘era-appropriate’ costumes and also spent time learning phrases so they could speak in the lingo relevant to each era.  But they didn’t impress Biggie this time, and they lost their 100% wager.

Following their disappointing task loss, the Housemates went into the Friday Night Games hoping for better luck and for Soxx and Tembi that luck arrived in the form of a R 50 000 cheque.

Round one of the Friday Night Games was the Shap Shap fruit squashing challenge after which Blue and K2; and Soxx and Tembi proceeded to the next round. In round two, tasked with freeing themselves from a cage by using a bar of soap until the soap melted enough to release the cage key, Soxx and Tembi worked to ensure that they were the first out of the cage and the winners of the big prize. Then on Saturday night, it was time for the Shap Shap party where the Housemates definitely showed off their dancing skills again.

With the past week almost recapped, Lungile was focussed on moving things along and next up on the show tonight was a performance ofMoshiko by Nveigh featurng PDotO.

Following their performance, Lungile stayed with the subject of music. The housemates to show off their creative performance skills with the highlight of the week - a cool song and music video. Housemates created it in just 72 hours working with respected music producer Sean Pages and music video producer Monde Dube, as well as a dedicated music video crew. The shoot itself on Friday night inspired a lot of social media commentary with fans sharing their opinions on everything from the fashion to the beats. After checking out the fan opinions, it was finally time for the Housemates, and the audience watching at home to see the final product. Biggie didn’t delay and the music video hit screens immediately. The Housemates seemed to have the time of their lives creating the video, and they chatted to Lungsta about how excited they were and how fun the experience was.

But all too soon, it was time for Lungile to deliver this week’s eviction results, as verified by Deloitte.

First though, after crossing to the house, Lungile encouraged Blue and K2 to reveal to the rest of the Housemates that they had won a Power of Immunity advantage three weeks earlier but decided not to use it. With that surprise out of the bag, Lungile was ready to make the eviction announcement. The two nominated Housemates pairs stood and waited to hear if their names would be called. After a few moments, that may have felt like a lifetime to them, Lungile broke the news…that Soxx and Tembi were out of the show!

The two, who chose to pair up after their original partners left the house, met Lungile on stage after a performance of Freedom or Fame by Blakez feauring Reason.  Chatting to Lungile about their romance which developed in the house, and which was seemingly challenged by K2 and Tembi’s flirtations, both Soxx and Tembi agreed that only time would tell what would happen next in their relationship.  The pair also got the opportunity to see just which other pairs had nominated them for eviction this week, after which they quickly confirmed that no one’s nomination had surprised them.

With Soxx and Tembi done chatting through their time in the game with Lungile, the pair left the stage and Lungile crossed back into the house to wish the remaining three pairs (Ace and Ntombi, Blue and K2 plus Chelsea and Mbali) all the very best of luck as they entered their final week.

Lungile also confirmed to viewing audiences that voting for the winners of Big Brother Mzansi: Double Trouble would begin straight after last night’s show, and run all the way until next Sunday morning (May 17) at 06:00 AM. So get voting if you want your favourite pair to walk away with an incredible R 2 million. Plus make sure you tune in to Mzansi Magic next Sunday evening at 20:00 (DStv channel 161) for the thrilling 90 minute Finale!
