No one brings characters and productions to life quite like the talented actors, actresses and presenters on Mzansi Magic's shows. They have given you everything from cliff-hangers to laughs to goosebumps and even some tears.

You may think we’re blowing our own horn when we tell you Mzansi Magic is a star-studded channel , so we thought we’d give you a look into all the awards our stars have won for their amazing talent over the past decade.

To honour the amazing talent in our country, the DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards (DMVCA) in 2017. Warren Masemola, who has starred in many Mzansi Magic productions like Ring of Lies and The Republic took the award for Favourite Actor in 2018 and 2020 while The Queen’s Thembsie Matu was awarded Favourite Actress in 2018. Other Mzansi Magic actors who have won in the Favourite Actor and Favourite Actress categories include Themba Ndaba of The Queen and Vatiswa Ndara of Igazi.

The cast of Isibaya is filled with decorated actors who have received a number of awards for their roles in various productions. Some of those awards they have received for their outstanding work on Isibaya like Siyabonga Thwala and Vusi Kunene’s SAFTA wins for Best Actor in a TV Soap in 2014 and 2016 respectively. In 2014, Thembi Nyandeni scooped the Golden Horn for Best Actress in a TV Soap for her portrayal of Mkabayi on Isibaya.

Vusi Kunene and Jessica Nkosi also won YOUSpectacular awards in 2016 for their unforgettable performance as husband and wife on the show. Samson Khumalo, Celeste Ntuli, Pallance Dladla, Gcina Mkhize and Abdul Khoza’s cabinets also have Golden Horns for their roles as supporting actors in the show.

Actors on Mzansi Magic’s other telenovelas have not gone unnoticed either. Last year Loyiso Macdonald scooped the SAFTA for Best Supporting Actor. Hamilton Dlamini won the Golden Horn for Best Actor in a TV Soap for his spine-chilling role as Banzi in Isithembiso in 2018. Linda Sebezo holds a Golden Horn for her role as the devious Sharon Dlamini on Greed and Desire in 2017.

Mzansi Magic’s actors also know how to bring on the drama. Legendary actress Florence Masebe and veteran actor Seputla Sebogodi won their very first SAFTAs for their roles on the channels’ newcomer hit drama series, The Republic this year. Talk about awards that were long overdue!

Lockdown, another Mzansi Magic hit drama series, saw two of its actresses walk away with awards last year – Dawn Thandeka King took the Golden Horn for Best Actress in a TV Drama and Lorcia Cooper the gong for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Drama.

New talent unearthed on the channel has also gone on to win awards and take the international world by storm. Thuso Mbedu, known for her young acting finesse and convincing portrayal of Winnie on Is’thunzi, won  the SAFTA for Best Actress in a TV Drama in 2018. She was also nominated twice for an international Emmy for the same role. Sdumo Mtshali won the Golden Horn for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Drama, Is’thunzi in 2019.

Our presenters are some of the best too. Our Perfect Wedding presenter at the time, Thembisa Mdoda, walked away with the Golden Horn for Best Presenter in 2018 and the DStvMVCA for Favourite Presenter and Ultimate Viewers’ Choice Award at the inaugural event in 2017. Vele Manenje, also an Our Perfect Wedding presenter, won the Golden Horn for Best Supporting Actress in Mzansi Magic telenovela, Ring of Lies.

Two-time DStvMVCA presenter, Bonang Matheba, has taken the Favourite Personality award twice while Moshe Ndiki had his first win as Favourite Presenter this year.
