This is your final call for the big time – Idols SA

This is it – the last day of Theatre Week is coming your way this Sunday.
An old style microphone.

This Sunday will mark the sixth week that we’ve been watching the Idols SA contestants battle it out for a place in the hallowed group of finalists. Along the way, we’ve seen some utterly dreadful attempts at what might pass for singing if you’ve been alone on a deserted island for the past decade.

To be fair, we’ve also seen some stellar performances by the hopefuls, and last Sunday’s episode of duets proved that many of these contestants have more than enough talent to give them a fighting chance. Alas, not all of them will get that opportunity, as there are a limited number of slots available. Their performances this weekend will determine who gets to occupy those slots.

From here on out its sink of sing, and we’ve still got a lot of the season left to go. Everyone who makes it through to the final group has a real shot at kickstarting a career in music, so those who are eliminated this Sunday will have to suffer the pain of “so close, but yet so far”.

A few of the contestants will be feeling the pressure: Zadwesh – who impressed the judges with a performance that earned him the very first Golden Ticket of the season – will be trying to overcome the disaster of a duet during last Sunday’s show, having totally blanked during his verse. He’ll be very aware that second chances don’t come around twice.

Sunday is going to be the most important episode of the season so far, and we can’t wait to see who rises to the occasion. After that – it time for the live shows, baby!

Idols SA season 18 airs on Mzansi Magic at 17:30 on Sundays. You can follow us on our assorted social platforms like FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
