Big Brother Mzansi host Smash Afrika opened the show with a dramatic: “Shots were fired, hearts were broken, much kissing happened and the gossip gang has been standing on business. Do the housemates have their head in the game?” These words served as a prelude to introducing a preview of all the drama that unfolded throughout the week leading up to this first eviction.
Following housemates’ nominations that put up Que, Ofentse, Tumi the Barber, Neliswa, Lawredo, and The Don for possible eviction, the public vote sealed the fate of Lawredo and Ofentse to be the first housemates to leave the season.
The irony of Lawredo’s exit was not lost on anyone, seeing that he was the very first housemate to enter the Big Brother Mzansi house on launch night – only to become one of the first to leave. His journey was short-lived, but it set the tone for the unpredictability that the season promises.
Sharing his experience in the house with Smash and Mzansi after exiting the house, Lawredo said his exit is not a loss for him because he already feels like a winner for having made it into Biggie’s house.
Ofentse's eviction further proved the reality of this game … there are no guarantees offered. Regarding his eviction, Ofentse admitted that he was surprised by the fact that he came out as a villain and admitted that he still had some people to talk to in the house, which would not be possible anymore.
After the goodbyes, Smash announced that Biggie was introducing the ‘Untouchables Pick’, which gives the Head of House, Dube, an opportunity to pick two housemates who would be safe from Monday’s nomination. Without hesitation, Dube picked Bravo B and Kokii as the first ‘untouchables’ of the season.
The first evictions have indeed reset things in the competition as the remaining housemates are reminded that any move, strategy, or conversation matters! BBM Bazozwa has shifted to a higher gear, and the game is officially on.
