Twenty years and three children later, Thumeka can finally call Hlathi her husband. The years have been filled with love and happiness but recently, heartache and chaos visited the Mabandla household and tested their love. Fortunately for everyone, it all ended in happily ever after.
Enough time has passed, and we can now properly look back at everything we loved about their stunning traditional wedding. We are a couple of weeks in, and the couple is in love but, Zoleka lowkey keeps creeping in thanks to Hlathi’s obsession with her.
Family unity
The Mabandlas are chaotic and move like the weather but one thing you will never have to doubt is their love. Thumeka is everything that Zoleka is not; traditional and submissive. Seeing as that is their definition of a perfect wife, they chose Thumeka as their daughter-in-law a long time ago.
A little commotion for the dress
Walking down the aisle in a beautifully designed Xhosa traditional wedding gown by the incredible Zazi Clothing Factory, Thumeka looked like a dream. It gave real life wedding and made waiting to say “yes” to Hlathi worth it.
No dry eyes
The lovebirds decided to write their own vows because, long as it’s been, there was still so much more to commit to. Hlathi expressed his appreciation for raising their beautiful children together while Thumeka reinforced her stance to stay fighting for their love until the end of time. There was not a dry eye in the room.
Baby Mabandla has arrived
Peace is only temporary around here, so of course the most beautiful wedding ended with a shocking revelation. Zoleka found out she is pregnant! This came only a few weeks after finalising her divorce with Hlathi, who is indeed the father.
Baby Bavumile has since made his grand entrance but his welcoming ceremony threatens to reveal his roots. Lazarus, who is now Zoleka’s partner, has stepped up as the father as per their agreement – and is trying by all means to keep their secret safe. Both the Bikitshas and Ngcukanas shall stay believing that he is the biological father.
Lazarus’s strict father, Zwelinzima, and his aunt, Nomfundiso, have landed and best believe there will be new developments, so do not miss a beat.
