Day 40: Redemption housemates under the spotlight – BBMzansi

News21 February 2026
As Ramona and Thandeka question Liema’s strategy, the spotlight turns to all redemption housemates.

Are the redemption housemates playing a predictable game? Using Liema as their main example, Ramona and Thandeka suggested she might be repeating the same approach she used in her previous season. Their concern raises a broader question about whether returning housemates are adapting to a new environment or simply refining a familiar formula. Although Bravo B and Mmeli were not part of the discussion, they too fall into the redemption category, making the conversation relevant to more than just one housemate.

Pros of playing a familiar game

One clear advantage of sticking to a previously successful strategy is experience. Redemption housemates like Liema, Bravo B, and Mmeli understand the pressure, the audience dynamics, and the social traps that come with the game. They have already tested certain behaviours and seen how viewers and fellow housemates respond. This awareness can reduce rookie mistakes, improve emotional control, and help them navigate nominations more strategically. Familiar tactics may also provide stability in unpredictable moments, allowing them to rely on what has worked before rather than experimenting under pressure.

Cons of repeating old patterns

On the other hand, predictability can become a weakness. Fellow housemates may quickly identify patterns and adjust their own strategies in response. If Liema, or any redemption housemate, appears to be recycling a previous persona or approach, others might view it as calculated rather than authentic. Replaying an old script risks stagnation and may limit opportunities to form new alliances or reshape public perception. In a game built on adaptation, repetition can make a player easier to read and easier to target.

Redemption housemates carry both the advantage of experience and the burden of expectation. Whether repeating elements of a past strategy is clever consistency or a failure to evolve depends on how well it fits the current season’s dynamics. Ultimately, success will hinge on balance, using experience as a guide while remaining flexible enough to grow beyond it.
