True to our brand-new show format, Gift of Love, tonight we celebrate a love that stood the test of time tonight. The Vilakazi children could not have given their parents a more perfect gift for their 51st wedding anniversary!
Pastor Naomi Vilakazi (77) and Apostle B.H. Vilakazi (81) years met way back in 1961 at the Youth Alive Ministries.. The couple’s second child, Vicky says her mother told her her day pursued her for five years.
“For me, it’s a milestone being together for 51 years. Marriages these days don’t last that long. For me, nothing beats that,” she said.
Vicky remembers growing up in White City and fondly talks about having lots of people housed in their three-bedroom house. From politicians, to musicians etc.
Vicky says her dad told her, her mom got her wedding gown at the last minute on their wedding back then. She and a family friend, Sihle joke about how their parents only have five pictures of the wedding taken because they didn’t have much money back then.
Sihle wrote to Gift of Love because as Mr. and Mrs. Vilakazi’s children, they wanted them to have their fairy-tale wedding. The couple had planned to have an anniversary someday soon but have not had the chance to get around planning for it. Sihle does events and will handle most of the décor, venue and catering preparations.
The celebration continues! Let’s see how the Vilakazi children make their parents anniversary one they will be talking about for years to come.
