The new season of Outlaws intensifies the gripping saga of the Biyela and Tseole families, exploring the aftermath of the forbidden romance between Sihle (a Biyela) and Leruo (a Tseole) and the ongoing bitter feud between their families. Since its premiere, the series, set against the stunning landscape along the border of Lesotho and KwaZulu-Natal, has delivered an electrifying mix of drama and suspense.
Let's delve into the top thrilling moments that have kept us glued to our screens and on the edge of our seats so far this season.
Tlali's shocking resurrection
At the explosive conclusion of season one, the villain everyone loves to hate, Tlali (a Tseole), portrayed masterfully by Keketso Mpitso, met an unexpected end. Fans were left in disbelief, but in a jaw-dropping twist in season two, he returned with a vengeance. This time, Tlali is more powerful and unhinged than ever, driven by an urge for revenge against both the Biyela family and his estranged family, the Tseole, with whom he has severed ties.
A surprise romance blossoms
Joining the drama this season is Buang (a member of the Tseole), played by the talented Mamodibe Ramodibe. She burst onto the scene with an agenda to disrupt the Biyela household, but her plans became complicated when she unexpectedly fell for Mthunzi, portrayed by Thandolwethu Zondi, a member of the Biyela family.
Tlali's cult-like empire
After his dramatic reappearance, Tlali transformed into a self-proclaimed kingpin, having completely distanced himself from the Tseole family. He now commands a loyal, cult-like following of "balaclava soldiers" who carry out his every instruction. Leading with a dangerously deluded sense of magnificence, Tlali amplifies his menace and cunning, making him an even more formidable antagonist as he embarks on his quest for dominance.
The unbreakable bond – Sihle and Leruo's weddingÂ
In a bold act of defiance against the long-standing animosity between their families, Sihle, played by Noluthando Ngema, and Leruo, embodied by Lehlohonolo Mayeza, triumphed over adversity as they united in a beautifully orchestrated cultural wedding ceremony.
The hostage
Tlali embarked on a treacherous journey to KwaZulu-Natal, where he executed a bold plan to take Mthunzi Biyela hostage along with several villagers. This alarming abduction sent shockwaves through the community as Tlali transported his captives to Lesotho. In a calculated move, he initially demanded a ransom of 50 cattle for their release. However, as tensions rose and the villagers' desperation deepened, he increased the demand to 100 cattle.
Despite the immense pressure, the Biyela refused to yield to Tlali’s demands. Broken by the relentless torment and realising the risk to the villagers' lives, they ultimately made the heart-wrenching decision to surrender to Tlali's demands. The villagers were finally freed, a bittersweet victory overshadowed by Mthunzi's continued captivity.
These moments not only heighten the drama but also deepen our connection to the characters and their intertwined destinies.
