If you can’t handle Randall, step off the blue Idols sticker in that audition room! Mr Abrahams has been with Idols SA since the inception of the show and immediately cemented himself as the judge that will tell you exactly what’s on his mind (for those old enough to remember, he would be referred to as South Africa’s Simon Cowell), and it gives the show a definite edge.
He is a revered member of the entertainment industry, with a background in management at radio stations, was CEO of the SAMAs for two years, and the managing director at Universal Music. He is a man who can be trusted: he knows the ins and outs of the music business and how it functions, and his advice is to be listened to.
Over the 16 (going on 17) seasons we’ve had him as a judge, there has never been a single dull moment. His corporate, emotionless look at the end of a really terrible performance will have you trying to keep your laughter in. It’s a sight to see when he lets out his softer side, which really is like witnessing a friendly giant giving a hug to a puppy. With that said, Mr Abrahams is a force to be reckoned with on and off-screen.
