Say hello to your captain
Africa is well-acquainted with the formidable talent of Lawrence Maleka, a true titan in the entertainment industry. Renowned for his mastery in the arts, the award-winning actor and TV personality will make a triumphant return as host of the highly anticipated fourth season of Big Brother Mzansi.
The Soweto native, lauded by the masses for his smooth charm and cadence, solidified his status as a fan-favourite during the show's third season, and secured his spot as a trusted favourite in piloting South Africa’s biggest reality TV show.
While his splashy entrance into the Biggieverse may be marks his freshest gag, Maleka is no stranger to the spotlight. His journey to stardom began with a hosting role on Mzansi Magic's acclaimed singing competition, Clash of the Choirs SA, back in 2016.
Following this highly-buzzed display of hosting finesse, Maleka made a compelling debut on 1Magic’s award-winning telenovela, The River. His compelling portrayal of the character of Zolani scored him a SAFTA award for 'Best Supporting Lead Actor' and 'Best Lead Actor'.
Despite now being celebrated as one of Africa's most respected actors and TV hosts, Maleka’s ascent to the pinnacle involved years of dedicated practice. His impressive journey includes prominent roles on TV programmes such as CocaCola Happiness Machine/PowerBall (Lotto draw), StarGist, Clash of the Choirs SA, Final Cut, The River, and Club 808.
In 2021, Maleka made an impressive entrance into the world of Big Brother Mzansi as the host for season 3.
There, he wowed viewers with his natural ability to disarm housemates with his swift wit, while also delivering a spectacular live show that consistently leaves viewers asking for more.
