In line with the theme of the week, the housemates have had a week of wellness and healthy living, which cuts across their mental health, their diet, and, of course, their physical well-being. We are going to take a look at five workout positions that have helped the housemates excel in maintaining good physical well-being. Below are five exercises the housemates took part in during the week.
Crunch exercise
Crunch exercises are a type of workout undertaken for core strength and target the abs for better definition. Apart from building those nice abs and core strength, crunch exercise helps reduce lower-back pain, improve balance and stability, and build functionality. This will also help the housemates go through the rigorous courses during their weekly arena games.
Squats
Squats are a strength training exercise in which participants lower their hips from a standing position and then stand back up. When done properly, squats help to improve lower body strength, boost athletic ability and strength, reduce the risk of injury from strenuous activities, and strengthen the core. Squats also target muscles such as the flat muscles at the front of the abdomen, obliques, the deepest of the 6 abdominal muscles, and the paraspinal muscles. This workout will help housemates go about their daily activities with enough agility to power through each day.
Cycling
Using a bicycle or stationary bike for cardiovascular exercise is a great way to improve endurance, burn calories, and strengthen leg muscles. Cycling is a low-impact exercise that puts less stress on the joints than running or jumping. For the S'ya Mosha housemates, strengthening those leg muscles will come in handy when it's time to hit the dance floor at the Thursday Pool Party and Saturday Night Party.
Front kicks
Front kicks are a form of workout that targets the hamstrings and quadriceps while also improving balance and flexibility. This exercise involves kicking one leg forward while keeping the other leg planted on the ground. Front kicks can be modified to fit different fitness levels, making it a versatile exercise for everyone. Incorporating front kicks into your workout routine can help you develop stronger and more toned legs. Know where the housemates need those toned legs? When they perform various challenges for the Head of House position.
Stretches
One of the best ways to have an injury-free and pain-free day is to stretch before starting the day's activities. Stretching helps loosen up the muscles in the body and helps to keep the body relaxed to have a better range of motion and flexibility while carrying out daily activities. The housemates have been spotted countless times having a stretch, especially after their morning workout. This ensures that their body is properly warmed up and ready for the day ahead. Additionally, stretching can also improve posture and prevent muscle imbalances, which can lead to chronic pain or injuries. So, whether it's a fun-filled pool party or a night of dancing, taking a few minutes to stretch beforehand can make a big difference in how your body feels and performs.
With all the above being part of the routine of the BBMzansi housemates, we are sure to have a healthy set of housemates all through the season.
