He’s the only judge who’s been with Idols SA since the very beginning and from the get-go he’s called a spade a spade! Randall Abrahams is the judge everyone loves to hate, but it also makes him the one everyone wants to impress because – love him or hate him – his credentials as a music expert are formidable.

After studying Political Science at UCT, Randall launched his career in broadcast radio in the Mother City as the station manager of Good Hope FM. He then moved to Johannesburg to help set up the youth radio station, YFM.

Randall moved back to the SABC in 2002 assuming the position of General Manager: Commercial Radio. He was CEO of the MTN SAMAs in 2011 and 2012. He joined Universal Music in June 2012 as the Managing Director.

He says the most fulfilling part of working on the show is seeing the successes – not just as solo singers but in bands and in theatre – of past performers like Shekhinah and even going back to Zamajobe. He also bakes – a handy hobby in these lockdown times!
