Mary Akatsa was widely reported to have allegedly brought Jesus Christ to her church. This action, coupled with her purported ability to have healing powers, gave her a huge following in Kenya.

To date, she still commands a formidable following despite an explosion of charismatic male preachers in the recent past. During her tenure as a self-proclaimed prophetess, Akatsa rose to prominence and interacted closely with former powerful politicians in Kenyan.
