Maisha Magic East lives up to its promise of delivering content that resonates with the audience by adding a new show entitled Nganya to its content mix. The fast-paced production reveals the competitive and sometimes dangerous world of Nairobi’s public transport industry.
The drama series-is shot in the local language common in the streets of Nairobi, Kenya follows the journey of driver (Gathee) and his conductor (Jamo) as they struggle to make a living. The two operate a twenty-seven-seater van, commonly known as Nganya in Eastlands - the crime center of Nairobi City. It’s raw and rugged and mirrors the transport industry to the letter.
The term Nganya derives from Sheng and is used to describe the popular public mode of transportation found in Nairobi.
Though not the best of friends, Gathee and Jamo - have created a good working relationship in order to survive. Gathee is a husband and father who lives a double life and is also hiding a deep secret from his wife. -He gets caught up with -making several wrong decisions in order to safeguard the well-being and safety of his family. Jamo-on the other hand is new to the industry and rough around the edges takes up pickpocketing to make more money on the table.
