The Turn Up guests: Naiboi and Gin Ideal

03 August 2017
This Saturday on The Turn Up we have the presence of 2 guests: Naiboi and Gin Ideal - find out more about them here.

Naiboi and Gin Ideal are our special guests for our next episode of The Turn Up - here's a little bit about these two Kenyan artists.

Virginia Maina, also known as Gin Ideal is a Kenyan afrodance artist. Her song Rede made it to the top of Kenyan music charts a few days after its release and has been the topic of a scandal between her and Bebe Cool - in an interview to a magazine, she accused Uganda's Bebe Cool of stealing a chorus and using it in his song Dede.

Gin Ideal is quite reserved about her personal life, but the female singer has given tips on her ideal man through her latest song Tumepatana and media interviews: "hardworking, honest, loving, clean and who would be able to easily talk about anything".

Our second guest on The Turn Up is Naiboi - a Kenyan Hip Hop/Rap artist and founder of record label Pacho. His inspirational story started 14 years ago when he was still in school, had music as his number one passion but no money to start working on his dream. Naiboi often speaks about starting off with very little resources and setting up a small "studio" in his bedroom.

Performing in clubs, universities and most recently at IAAF World U18 Championships, the artist has released various songs in 2017, many in collaboration with other artists such as Karorero, Fuse ODG and ShappaMan. In a recent interview at the University of Nairobi, Naiboi has shared some motivational words to the young generations: "Have consistency, dream hard, have true friends and never give up!"

We can't wait to have these 2 artists with us! Catch Naiboi and Gin Ideal this Saturday on The Turn Up at 12pm on Maisha Magic East - DStv Channel 158 and GOtv Channel 4.
