The much-anticipated local true-crime documentary series The Last Door premiered on Maisha Magic Plus on Saturday 8 January. The show’s objective is to expose hidden or unacknowledged truths about crimes that were perpetrated in Kenya.
Prior to the show, a select few were invited to watch the first episode at Westgate Cinema. This is how they shared their excitement on Twitter:
The premiere episode featured the story of 29-year-old Tecra Muigai, a shining star in her family who held both the promise of a bright future and a multi-million-dollar empire in her hands. She fell deeply in love with an older man named Omar Lali and would later die while in his company in unclear circumstances. Her death sparked public outrage and left a trail of hurt and unanswered questions. Was it an accident? Was she murdered? What was her mental state before she died? The show’s producer spoke with people on both sides of the argument, and this is what they had to say:
The second episode will take an in-depth look into Kenya’s river of skulls, where over 30 bodies were discovered.
