Maisha Magic East is seeking to commission Kenyan Swahili films targeting our Kenyan middle class audiences. The films will be produced in Kenya, will have authentic storylines delivered in fluent Kenyan Kiswahili, by well- known or up and coming Kenyan cast, produced in Kenya.

Please see our three genres for the movie strands below.

BRIEF TITLE:          Thriller/Horror, Love and Romance, Comedy

CHANNEL:               Maisha Magic East

SUB-GENRE:            Stand-alone, made-for-TV feature films

SERIES:                     60 minutes

EDITORIAL GUIDE:

The thriller should be suspenseful. Make us anxious about our character and make us desperate to know what will happen next. Include surprises and twists and keep us on the “edge of our seats”. We want our hearts to pound and adrenaline to flow.

We are looking to create stand-alone features in any genre however the thriller element is critical. There must be elements of suspense that make films enjoyable and entertaining. Do not be afraid to put your characters in peril.

You can also make them uniquely Kenyan e.g. Kenyan urban legends or Kenyan horror stories.

This strand of stand-alone movies is an excellent opportunity for executive producers and writers alike to create films within a contained budget.

You may submit as many films as you like. The only requirement – THRILL US.

BRIEF TITLE:          Love and Romance Strand

EDITORIAL GUIDE:

Love and Romance are universal emotions. No matter where you are or who you are, love is hardly ever smooth sailing.

How do the lovers meet? What are the obstacles to love? Who or what stands in the way of the relationship? How do the lovers reunite or not?

We are looking to create stand-alone features in any genre however there must be a focus on love and romance. Please make us root for our romantic hero/heroine. Remember all romantic movies can often be distilled into Boy Meets Girl, Boy loses Girl, Boy gets Girl Back. (This is not gender-specific).

This strand of stand-alone movies is an excellent opportunity for executive producers and writers alike to create films about love and romance within a contained budget.

You may submit as many films as you like.

BRIEF TITLE:          Comedy Strand

EDITORIAL GUIDE:

We are looking for comedy films!

Please feel free to submit comedy in any genre.

We are looking to create stand-alone features in any genre however there must be a focus on humour.  Whether it’s black comedy, action comedy, fish out of water comedy, mockumentary or slapstick – the only real requirement is that a comedy should make the audience laugh.

This strand of stand-alone movies is an excellent opportunity for executive producers and writers alike to create comic films within a contained budget.

You may submit as many films as you like.
