Alemba and Avril on The Turn Up!

21 September 2017
These are our guest artists on The Turn Up this weekend. Do you know enough about them?

Alemba is a gospel Kenyan artist. He had a difficult childhood, with the unexpected death of both parents when he was still very young. His passion for music started in highschool, as he got involved with dancing and music. Over the years, Alemba developed emcing skills and realized this was something he really enjoyed doing, as he received great feedback from the public. In 2012 he decided to leave to the U.S.A and got more involved in ministry.

He decided to come back to Kenya 4 years later - the main reason for this is he felt the need to help take gospel music to another level in his own country, as there wasn't much happening. Since he has been back, he has worked on a few collaborations and released Hide & Seek, with Hope Kid.

Judith Nyambura Mwangi, also known as Avril is a Kenyan singer, songwriter, entertainer and actress. She is popularly known for her songs "Mama", "Kitu Kimoja" and "Hakuna Yule". Avril also ventured into the film industry and is also best known for playing Miss Behave on MTV’s Shuga: Love Sex Money. A curiosity about her: she holds a Bachelors Degree in Design from the UoN's School of Art and Design.
