Exciting news – Maisha Magic Movies is expanding as the home of authentic East African movies, will now be available in Kenya on GOtv Value, Channel 15, and GOtv Value Channel 311 in Uganda from 3 May.

The channel – also available to DStv Access, DStv Compact, DStv Compact Plus, and DStv Premium subscribers on DStv Channel 141, has been the go-to destination for movie lovers since its highly anticipated launch in September 2021, bringing audiences authentic content suitable for family viewing.

“We are extremely pleased to expand the channel to GOtv Value and excited about the highly anticipated proposition,” said Barbara Kambogi, Channel Head for Maisha Magic Movies. “Part of the identity and aim of Maisha Magic Movies is to share the narrative of authentic storytelling made by us, for us which is also a testament to MultiChoice’s mandate of bringing local storytelling to the forefront, where it belongs,” she concluded.

These are some of the ground-breaking local titles that have been earmarked by the channel that GOtv Value subscribers can now also expect to enjoy from the comfort of their homes this May: Ugandan drama The Day of Judgement, starring and directed by Michael Musanje. The epic title narrates the story of Jackson, a notorious long-time thug who is now keen to call it quits. He’s ready to be a good guy but can he get away from the deeds of his past?

Also, from Uganda is the movie entitled Kamara, starring Doreen Rwatooro and Mercy Nahabwe and directed by Denis Dhikusooka. In this epic title, viewers can expect to be immersed in the story of a successful young businesswoman who must abandon her dazzling life in the city to rule over her ancestral kingdom as queen.

From Kenya and directed by John Njoroge is the romantic thriller My Crazy Husband. Starring Caroline Kandy and Oliver Kidemi. The film follows a woman whose marriage is picture perfect – until her wonderful husband starts abusing her forcing her to consult the question: who did she really marry?

Another example of the list of exciting blockbusters exclusive to Maisha Magic Movies is Kenya’s Mbio Za Sakafuni, an emotional story of a young woman desperate for the affection of her stepsisters. How far does she need to go to build a relationship with her family? The woman-led and woman-helmed flick is directed by and stars Jane Kamau.
