Cast appreciation: Contract Love – Maisha Magic Movies

Contract Love follows the story of a young law student who begins to fall for her boyfriend's uncle after accepting a job as his caretaker. Of course, behind this intriguing storyline is an amazing cast and crew, so we went diving into their world in the film universe.

First, we need to give the amazing producer-director her accolades.

DR ZIPPY OKOTH

Dr Zippy Okoth has more than 15 years of experience in film and theatre. She holds the first PhD in Theatre Arts from a Kenyan university. She is an expert on creative arts, education, gender, and development issues. She is a lecturer of Theatre Arts and Film at Kenyatta University and a French African Young Leaders Foundation Laureate. She is the co-founder and festival director of the Lake International Pan-African Film Festival (LIPFF) which focuses on films in African languages. She has served as a member of the Kenya Film Policy Task Force, the Kenya Cultural Centre Act Task Force, and is an executive committee member of the Kenya National Music and Cultural Festival under the Ministry of Sports and Heritage. She has also consulted for various organisations on education curriculum, gender mainstreaming, and development. She was the top judge for the Ms President Reality TV Show on KTN HOME Kenya and has served as a jury member for various film festivals in eastern Africa. She is an author, performing artist, storyteller, award-winning director, and producer. She is the director of the feature film Midlife Crisis, a short silent film, alongside The End, Pieces and Zedi . She is an activist and her works focus on changing the African narrative, with a great focus on women’s issues. She believes that art is a powerful tool for social change.

GERORGE MUIRU NJOROGE ALIAS GEORGE MO (who plays Chris)

George Mo is an award-winning actor with more than 16 years of experience. Most recently he played Lebo in Borderline on Showmax. He has acted as Smalls in Kina, General Torome in Mission to Rescue, and Sam in Lost in Times. He has won awards across Africa, which include a Kalasha International movie award for Best Lead Actor in 2019, a Rwanda International Movie Award for Best Lead Actor 2020, and a Black Star International Movie Award (GHANA) 2020. He is a professional gun handler and has also been trained in close quarters battle training, hand-to-hand combat, and shooting.

 Please just clarify this sentence. Are Pieces and Zedi also short silent films? Or just short films? Or also feature films?

SHARON CHELANGAT (who plays Anita)

Sharon Chelangat from Kericho is a finishing student at KCA University studying Film Technology and Performing Arts (majoring in film). She was one of the co-stars in the musical play Simba Bazenga, which is the Sheng translation of The Lion King. She played the role of Nala and doubled as the costume designer. She is also the production designer of Triple Inheritance a romantic-comedy film. She is very interested in fashion design and creative make-up artistry.

JUMA WILLIAMS (who plays Harry)

Juma Williams is 44 years old.  In 2000, he joined the acting industry professionally. He has acted in television programs such as Papa Shirandula, Changes, Selina (an M-Net series), and Club Kiboko. In the movie space he has acted in From a Whisper, The Equator, Ndoto Za Elibidi, and After the Storm (a BBC Channel 4 docudrama). He is also a scriptwriter, producer, content developer, director, and voiceover artist.

GADWILL ODHIAMBO (who plays Tom)

Gadwill Odhiambo is 25 years old and a fourth-year student at Kenyatta University. He is a performing artist with prowess both on screen and on stage. He has worked on productions like Sincerely Daisy on Netflix and Crime and Justice on Showmax. His ability to bring out the best in the artistic field is great if not unmeasurable.

SHEILA NDANU KENI (who plays Esther)

She began her acting career in 2019. Her first assignment was a daily television series on Citizen TV that ended in February 2021. She has appeared as a guest actor on Varshita, on Maisha Magic Plus in 2020, and Njoro wa Uber, on Maisha Magic Plus in 2021. She has also acted as a landlady in Volumes, a governor’s wife in Border Patrol, a mother in Country Queen, and a wealthy business lady in Anti-Social. She has done voiceover work for Cadbury’s drinking chocolate, which aired on local television stations in 2021.
