In the last local government elections, the ANC lost its stronghold in multiple municipalities and some of the countryโs biggest metros. They were elections that paved the way for smaller parties to become so-called kingmakers by combining forces and wrestling power away from the countryโs traditionally dominant parties. But itโs all falling apart as intense internal battles for control cripple these fragile partnerships. While the saying goes โthe enemy of my enemy is my friendโ it seems some political parties didnโt get the memo. Can South Africaโs biggest metros survive the coalitionsโ grand collapse?
