23-year-old Daniel Jay was born in Port Elizabeth and reveals he’s always done music. A full-time muso, he gigs in PE three or four times a week, having taken inspiration from his dad’s playing of drums and guitar when he was growing up. He even has a tattoo on his right arm of him, his dad, and a guitar – “My dad’s my biggest buddy when it comes to music,” he says. After his parents were divorced age 5, he did his schooling in Pretoria, but didn’t want to be the Afrikaans singer they wanted him to be, so he moved back to PE.
