Giorgio Armani
One of the biggest names in the fashion world, Italian designer Giorgio Armani studied medicine and worked at a military hospital. While on leave from the military, he worked as a window dresser in Milan. In 1965 he joined Nino Cerruti as a designer for menswear, where he met Sergio Galeotti. In his 40s, Galeotti encouraged him to start a fashion house, and so Giorgio Armani the brand was born.
Kathryn Joosten
The late Kathryn Joosten, best known for her role as nosy Karen McCluskey on Desperate Housewives and Dolores Landingham on The West Wing, didn't start acting until she was 42. Joosten initially trained and worked as a psychiatric nurse at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. The actress went on to win two Emmy awards for her role on Desperate Housewives.
Vera Wang
World-renowned fashion designer Vera Wang worked as an editor at Vogue and an accessories designer at Ralph Lauren. But she only opened her bridal shop and debuted her line of gowns at age 40. In an interview with Harvard Business Review, Wang said if she had started her business sooner, she wouldn't have been equipped to know what it takes to be in business.
Ronald Reagan
Reagan took a step away from the Hollywood limelight and joined politics. He became the governor of Califonia in his fifties and the 40th president of the United States at age 69.
