In a DStv first, the leading video entertainment provider has introduced Early Access, a new way for customers to enhance their viewing experience by watching content on Catch Up on any device connected to the Internet before it broadcasts on a linear channel.
The feature will initially be made available to DStv Premium customers who consume content on the DStv App and an Explora that they’ve connected to the Internet, at no cost.
The keenly-awaited local version of the internationally popular reality series Love Island SA is one of the most recent shows on the Premium package that entertainment fans can watch in Early Access on Catch Up on any device connected to the Internet an hour before the show airs on M-Net (DStv channel 101). Early Access for Love Island SA will be active from week 2 to episode 35 (Friday, 9 April 2021).
The finale of the show will be live on M-Net (DStv channel 101) without the option of Early Access.
“Our customers’ viewing habits and preferences continue to drive our innovations. Early Access gives customers an unprecedented opportunity to watch exclusive content first on their connected devices. Driving value and convenience for audiences are at the heart of enhancing the customer’s viewing experience. Our world-class content can be viewed on multiple screens, at the customer’s convenience,” says Yolisa Phahle, Multichoice Group CEO of General Entertainment and Connected Video.
Plans are underway for more new content on the DStv platform to include the Early Access option.
