Two four-year-old girls are murdered just a few weeks apart. Their mothers are separated by province, but not grief. For the families of Tamia Botha in the Western Cape and Bokgabo Poo in Gauteng there has been no closure: the police havenโ€™t arrested their killers. In Bokgaboโ€™s case, the man last seen with her was acquitted in the Pretoria High Court last month. Tamiaโ€™s killer remains at large. In the most recent crime statistics, it was revealed that 293 children were murdered between April and June this year. Thatโ€™s at least three children murdered every day. So, why are these cases not receiving the highest priority? Carte Blanche investigates. Your favourite episodes are now available on Carte Blanche: The Podcast: https://linktr.ee/carteblanchetv

At just two years old, Chevonne Rusch had endured a difficult upbringing. Throughout her short life, the little girl and her siblings were violently abused and neglected. Friends and neighbours repeatedly reported the abuse to the police and to authorities but no one acted. Then she was brutally murdered. Itโ€™s a tragic story, but our investigation shows that Chevonneโ€™s death couldโ€™ve been prevented had authorities taken action. Instead, their inaction coincided with an escalation in the abuse and, in the end, a tragic loss of life. Carte Blanche investigates how the state, as custodians of vulnerable children, continues to fail them. Find more exclusive content on Carte Blanche: The Podcast: https://linktr.ee/carteblanchetv
