It’s the organisation tasked with ensuring your safety when you fly. But, when it comes to ensuring the airworthiness of one of its own aircraft, insiders allege the Civil Aviation Authority was flying by the seat of its pants - with tragic consequences. On 23 January, government finally released a report into a fatal crash in January 2020 that claimed the lives of 3 CAA personnel. Its findings raise critical questions: did officials in the CAA ignore warnings about the safety of one of its planes? And, if they did, why?
