The Reagan clan is back! Season 6 of Blue Bloods starts Thursday 3 December at 20:30 on M-Net.

Starring Tom Selleck as patriarch Frank Reagan, New York City’s Chief of Police, Donnie Wahlberg as eldest son Danny Reagan, Bridget Moynahan as Frank’s daughter Erin, and Will Estes as younger son Jamie, Blue Bloods has been popular since its debut in 2010.

Veteran actor Tom Selleck is everyone’s favourite moustachioed on-screen hero. Here are five interesting facts about him.

1. His most famous role is arguably that of Hawaii-based private investigator Thomas Magnum in Magnum, P.I. It was his commitment to the show, however, that cost him the starring role in Indiana Jones, which went to Harrison Ford, and the opposite lead to Julie Andrews in Victor/Victoria.

2. He also played Thomas Magnum in the series Simon & Simon and the wildly popular Murder, She Wrote.

3. He was a vocal supporter of US President Ronald Reagan during the 1980s, and in Blue Bloods the Reagan family has political connections.

4. In 1992 he “won” a Razzie Award as Worst Supporting Actor for his role in Christopher Columbus: The Discovery. Selleck accepted the award with good humour – one of the first actors to do so.

5. He said in 1987 television interview that he wanted to study architecture: ‘But when I arrived [to sign up for courses], "Architecture" was filled up. "Acting" was right next to it. So I signed up for Acting instead.’
