After a magical ten days spent bingeing on Harry Potter on the M-Net Movies pop-up channel, itโs time to cap the experience with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them at M-Net Movies Night Out.
Continuing the magic of J.K Rowlingโs incredible universe, but set decades before Harry is even born, fans have been waiting eagerly for the film. If youโre as obsessed with the books and films as we are, you probably already know all the below, but check it out anyway. Number 4 may just surprise you!
1. The filmโs full title is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Itโs generally referred to as Fantastic Beasts becauseโฆwell, the full name is quite a mouthful.
2. Itโs based on a textbook mentioned in the Harry Potter books, which was eventually published as an actual book by Potter author J.K. Rowling. However, its authorship is credited to Newt Scamander, the character Eddie Redmayne plays in the first film.
3. The first film marks Rowlingโs screenwriting debut.
4. Redmayne had to learn how to do a mating dance for the film. Check it out below.
5. This film is the first of five planned films.
6. It's directed by David Yates. He also directed the last four Harry Potter movies and is currently set to direct all four Fantastic Beasts'ย sequels.
7. Johnny Depp has been cast as the dark wizard Grindelwald in the first sequel. Apparently he appears briefly in the first movie, but donโt quote us on that. Weโll have to wait and see if weโre right.
8. Lalla was in London to attend the premiere and interview the stars for LallaLand. Check her out with Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston below.
