Ending an action-packed Expendables Weekend is your Sunday Night Movie, the third instalment in the franchise, The Expendables 3 on 12 July at 20:05 on M-Net 101 and 20:30 on M-Net Movies Premiere 103.
Action megastars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Arnold Schwarzenegger are back; and they’re bigger, bolder and better than ever.
Joining their ranks are action franchise veterans Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas and Wesley Snipes. There’s also a healthy dose of new blood in the shape of former Hercules Kellan Lutz, mixed martial artist Ronda Rousey and professional boxer Victor Ortiz.
Kelsey Grammer also forms part of the crew. While the Frasier star may seem an unlikely action hero, remember that he flexed his action chops as the older Beast in two of the X-Men movies.
Sadly Bruce Willis, who was meant to be in the third movie, did not reprise his role. According to Sly’s Twitter account, Willis’ absence was due to a money dispute, with Willis wanting $4 million for three days work, instead of $3 million.
The Die Hard hero was promptly dropped by the Rocky champion and replaced by Indiana Jones star, Harrison Ford. With a fourth instalment rumoured, we hope Willis will become less demanding, mend fences with his action buddies and return for another bout.
If the men can’t sort things out, we’ll just enjoy watching the ladies instead, because rumour has it Stallone wants an all-female team in a spin-off called The ExpendaBelles. With names like Milla Jovovich, Angelina Jolie, Helen Mirren, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Garner, Lucy Lawless, Summer Glau, Lena Headey, Pam Grier and Meryl Streep dropped, it’s something we would definitely watch.
For now, toss the rumours aside and revel in the enormous action-packed fun of The Expendables 3 at 20:05 on M-Net 101 and M-Net Movies Premiere 103 at 20:30 on Sunday 12 July.
