Four talented singers are one step closer to cinching more than R800 000 worth of prizes, a recording contract with Universal Music South Africa and the honour of being named the very first winner of The Voice SA

In this week’s live show, featuring legendary Grammy winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo as guest act, The Voice SA coaches Karen Zoid, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Lira and Kahn Morbee had a last chance to give one of their team members a guaranteed spot in the next round.

Khan saved 22-year old heartthrob Richard Stirton from Cape Town who rocked the stage with Mumford & Sons’s I Will Wait. Lira opted for the charismatic Zoë Modiga (22) from Pietermaritzburg whose interpretation of Rihanna’s Diamonds inspired coach Kahn to invite her to sing on his next album; an emotional Bobby, who had to compose himself to make a call, gave Gavin Edwards (37) the green light with his solid song choice of Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars; and Karen decided to save powerhouse diva Thembeka Mnguni (32) after her stirring performance of  Run by Leona Lewis.

The support of the South African voting public will determine which one of the remaining singers from each coach’s team will join Richard, Zoë, Gavin and Thembeka in next week’s live show, the week before the final on Sunday 22 May.

In #TeamKahn the race is on between students Clemour Ngobeni (24) from Midrand and Francis Bowers (23) from Melkbosstrand whose performances delighted their coach – Clemour with the Adele hit Rolling in the Deep and Francis with Alicia Keys’ Girl on Fire. (Clemour’s voting number is 09 and Francis’s is 12).

After a delivery failure which resulted in the loss of 8 000 intended votes from Vodacom customers which could not be allocated to individual singers M-Net, in consultation with independent auditing firm Deloitte & Touche, decided to save an entire coach’s team this week – the only one in which the votes were very close with fewer than 8 000 votes between two of the talent. Lira's team was the one affected; thus, The Voice SA fans can still vote for three singers in the songbird’s team. The one with the most votes only will proceed to the next round.

The three from #TeamLira who will be waiting to find out if they did best at the voting polls are Jeremy Olivier (40), Robin Pieters (25) from Cape Town, and 19-year-old Jono Johansen from Durban.

Jeremy (voting no 27) wowed the audience with Oliver Mtukudzi’s Neria; Robin (voting no 30) displayed his vocal skills with The WeekNd’s I Can’t Feel My Face; and Jono (voting no 28), who had a chest infection this week, impressed with Demi Lovato’s Skyscraper

In #TeamBobby voters have to choose between 22-year old blind singer Vernon Barnard (voting no 06) who Bobby believes is getting better each week, and 21-year-old Austin Lurring (voting no 01) who brought his A-game with local star Khaya Mthethwa’s Move

In #TeamKaren either Almur Marais (25) from Stilfontein or Jono Grayson (23) from Cape Town will be staying in the competition, based on the audience vote. Almur (voting no 17) chose the old Paul Simon classic The Boxer, which was recently given a new lease of life by Mumford & Sons; while Jono (voting no 18) performed Maroon 5’s This Love
