Scintillating scenes from sexy movies.

Do you ever find yourself talking about a risqué movie scene and instead of going into detail or using euphemisms, you just call it that scene? You know what we mean: like that scene with Sharon Stone. When you say that, most movie fans will know what you’re talking about.

This September, M-Net Movies is bringing you a channel filled with those scenes. Naughty, nice, kinky, kooky, and starring Tinseltown’s hottest names, Hollywood’s Sexiest pop-up channel is filled with movies and scenes that got tongues wagging and turned actors into stars and sex symbols. If that’s not your scene, don’t worry. It’s not all erotic thrillers and sex scenes galore. There’s plenty of love stories too if what you’re looking for is more romance than raunchiness.

Here are some of the movies you can look forward to watching or revisiting on Hollywood’s Sexiest pop-up channel between 24 September and 10 October.

Pretty Woman (1990)
A modern Cinderella story with a hint of My Fair Lady, Pretty Woman propelled Julia Roberts to superstardom. She goes to the races just like Eliza Doolittle and like Cinderella has a fairy godmother of sorts in the form of the hotel manager. The twist in the tale? She’s a hooker with knee-high leather boots and a miniskirt that shows off Roberts’s tanned and toned legs to perfection, all eclipsed by that gorgeous smile. As for that scene: sex on a piano, anyone?

Basic Instinct (1992)
From a torrid affair in Fatal Attraction, Michael Douglas moved on to playing a detective who becomes involved with a murder suspect. Of course, it wasn’t Douglas who got tongues wagging, but his co-star Sharon Stone, who plays said suspect. While Stone’s character is interrogated she crosses her legs, exposing herself to her interrogators and the viewers in a scene that would be talked about for years.

William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet (1996)
Forbidden love, doomed love, young love: Shakespeare’s love story has them all. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, this modern update oozes style, as well as coy glances and stolen kisses as Romeo and Juliet lock eyes through a fish tank, go for a late-night swim, and defy their destiny.

Boogie Nights (1997)
Leonardo DiCaprio makes several appearances on this list – hardly surprising given that he was a ‘90s pin-up star. Boogie Nights is about the porn industry in the ‘70s and ‘80s but is not what rocketed DiCaprio to mega-fandom since he turned down the role of Dirk Diggler due to filming a little something called Titanic. The role went to Mark Wahlberg instead, playing the high school dropout turned porn star who finds great success thanks to his huge penis. The role required Wahlberg to drop trow and strap on a large prosthetic that is apparently the only prop he’s ever kept from a movie.

Titanic (1997)
Released just after Boogie Nights was this tale of doomed love and a doomed ship starring DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. It’s remembered for many reasons. The infamous door debate is still raging today…to the point that Brad Pitt even included it in his Golden Globe acceptance speech in 2020 as a nod to DiCaprio, his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-star (another movie you can check out on the channel, by the way). Titanic also gave us the famous “I’m flying” scene and people are still yelling “I’m the king of the world” whenever they find a railing or anything remotely resembling a ship’s bow. Another memorable line is “I want you to draw me like one of your French girls”, which led to that scene. And who could forget that scene with a fogged-up window and Rose’s hand.

Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Real-life couple Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman made several films while they were still a hot item. One of their steamiest and most well-known is undoubtedly Stanley Kubrick’s last film, Eyes Wide Shut. Laced with orgies, fantasies, and sexual misadventures it’s a dark and intense exploration of sex and marriage by one of Hollywood’s finest and often controversial filmmakers.

Swordfish (2001)
It doesn’t get hotter than Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman burning up the screen together! Acclaimed as actors, with a bevy of awards and nominations under their belts, there’s also no denying that no one’s complaining when Berry wears a little lace or Jackman takes off his shirt.

Magic Mike XXL (2015)
When it comes to taking off shirts, no one does it quite like Magic Mike. Filled with abs, abs, and more abs, the movie left many fans swooning. The first film was inspired by Tatum who was a stripper IRL, but he’s more than just abs and more abs, as he shows off some pretty slick moves which are back on display in this hot sequel.

Fifty Shades trilogy (2015 – 2018)
Filled chock-a-block with BDSM and other sexual escapades, the book Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James caused a lot of controversy upon its release. That didn’t stop people from reading it (and trying out some of the acts mentioned, sometimes with disastrous consequences) and it became a bestseller around the world, prompting Hollywood to snap it up. Four years after the book was published, the first film was released: steamy, yes, but leaving out a lot of the kink and toning down Christian Grey to a somewhat lower level of creep. It was still a smash hit and followed by adaptations of the rest of James’s trilogy.

After (2019) and After We Collided (2020)
Romance novels are a big thing. HUGE! So it’s little surprise that 50 Shades is so popular and that it was followed by a slew of replicas. And let’s not forget that 50 Shades has its own predecessors (Mills & Boon, anyone?). But back to the present and the After stories, a series of books and film adaptations that followed in the steamy wake of the 50 Shades books and movies. They’ve often been compared, and now Hollywood’s Sexiest pop-up channel is giving you the chance to watch 50 Shades and After, so you can decide which is better or sexier or whether you just love them both.

There’s plenty more where that came from, so dim the lights and prepare to get titillated with much, much more from M-Net Movies and Hollywood’s Sexiest pop-channel on DStv channel 111 from 24 September to 10 October.
