Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Audrey Niffenegger, and produced by Steven Moffat, producer of the science-fiction series Dr Who, comes the riveting HBO sci fi series, The Time Traveler’s Wife. There are many reasons why you should watch this mix of romance and mystery.

It has time travel

The premise of time travel is very intriguing, and the possibilities are endless. This story is about Henry DeTamble, a man with a rare genetic disorder that causes him to time travel. It explores his relationship with Clare Abshire who waits for his return over periods in time. We see an adult Henry appear in different time settings where he meets a younger Clare.

It has big stars

Rose Leslie takes on the role of a Clare Abshire. You will recognise Leslie from Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey. Theo James, a fan of the book, plays Henry. He has starred in many movies and shows such as the Divergent movie series and most recently The White Lotus season 2. Josh Stamberg steps into the role of Henry’s father and Kate Siegal, his mother.

It has romance and is heart-breaking

The series explores love and separation and what happens in-between. It leaves you asking the question, does love really last a lifetime? Clare’s point of view, as the title suggests, is not forgotten and you experience through her eyes what it feels like to have a partner lost in time.

It has a modern twist

Fans of the book will remember that the events take place between the 1960s and 2000. However, is set from 1990 to present day. This makes it more relatable to today’s audience. You’ll see Henry and Clare use modern day devices to record their stories.

It’s filmed in great locations

A great series must have great settings. The directors tried to stay true to the book, but naturally added their own spin to filming locations. Charlie's Bar and Kitchen in the Bronx was used for several of Henry and Clare’s dates over time. The Morrison Rockwood State Park in Illinois, US, was the perfect location where Henry and Clare meet throughout the series. These are just some examples of settings used that captured some of the realism from the book.
