Sibling Singers

23 February 2017
In our latest Blinds, we welcomed The Massers, our first duo of the season. They’re also brother and sister. Here’s a look at other famous sibling duos.

In 2013, #TeamBlake’s The Swon Brothers made it all the way to The Voice US finale, the first do to ever go that far on the show. They ultimately finished third.

Here are a few memorable Blind Auditions by duos from The Voice series globally.

But instances of sibling duos in music are nothing new – in fact, in cases like The Jacksons and The Corrs, we have entire families full of talent! But here though are a few instances when siblings have couple and reaped musical rewards by being on same DNA page.

Perhaps the most memorable are The Carpenters, who were comprised of Richard and Karen Carpenter. Karen tragically died in 1983 from problems related to anorexia, but in all the siblings have shipped over 100 million records.

Donny and Marie Osmond had separate careers (Donny was in teen sensations The Osmonds) until 1976, when they performed together for three years on TV variety show The Donny & Marie Show – to this day they’re still together on Las Vegas stages!

BeBe and CeCe Winans have had a hugely positive effect on gospel music, and US band Heart, who had a huge hit in 1985 with “What About Love”, had a revolving line-up, but at its core were sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson.

More recently, hip-hop duo and “No Flex Zone” hit-makers Rae Sremmurd are made up of young brothers Swae Lee and Slim Jimmy; while dance-pop sensation Disclosure are brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence.

We hope The Massers have as much success as these acts – and more!
