First up, Riky recently announced the jam-packed line-up he has curated for his festival Cotton Fest, an event that promises to combine fashion and music in an unprecedented way.
Among the 80 (yes, eighty!) acts set to perform on two stages are some of the biggest names in Mzansi hip-hop, including our coach, Kwesta, AKA, Nasty C, and Anatii.
Social media was quick to point out the glaring admission though – no Cassper Nyovest – but unbelievably more acts are still to be announced! The event happens at The Station in Newtown on 2 February.
Post that announcement, Riky released a short clip from documentary titled ‘SENTIMENTAL’ – what he calls a “brief look into the minds and aspirations of South Africa’s next generation of creatives.” The short features artists like Nadia Nakai, Stilo Magolide, and Moozlie, all of whom are performing at Cotton Festival.
Then, in a recent chat with TshisaLIVE, he spoke about his gig on The Voice SA, and how his goal now is to uplift others and help build the industry. "It's one thing to say you want to be there for the kids and help make them something,” he said. “But it is another to actually put the work in and make platforms for them."
“I have always wanted to help other people,” he revealed. “That has always been my nature.”
On the less serious side, a video that emerged on the @sahiphip_ Instagram account showed him to be real #DadGoals! In the cute clip, he and his son Maik, brush their teeth together on his InstaLive – and the account managed to capture it for posterity!
Finally – like much of the planet – he joined in the #10YearChallenge buzz. And we have say, he’s not so much of a #GlowUp as #AlwaysWas! Apart from a better-manicured beard and an additional tattoo or two, he doesn’t look to have aged a bit!
