Despite Harvey seemingly having come to terms with Donna leaving at the end of the last episode, his emotional drama surrounding the racy redhead seems far from over.
This was evident in the opening sequence, which was so obviously a dream from the very beginning, where a naked Donna is lying in Harvey’s bed only to be joined by Travis Tanner, Harvey’s arch nemesis.
Beyond the disturbing nature of that scene in and of itself, one can understand why it sent Harvey scurrying back to his therapist. Ironically enough, the two people you should never lie to are your lawyer and your therapist and Harvey manages to do both by lying to himself and Dr. Agard (yes, that’s her name) about the identity of the lady in his bed.
The whole issue starts when Harvey decides to pick a fight with a seemingly reformed Travis Tanner, who nobody truly believed was reformed.
Side note: Did anyone else think it was about time someone finally brought up Mike’s hair?
Anyway, it turns out that Mike has done some serious growing up over the last four seasons as it’s the young associate who has to play the adult while the two attorneys go at it like scorned toddlers.
At the end of the day, Mike convincing Tanner to step down not only showed that their previously vengeful nemesis had turned over a new leaf but also that Harvey’s issues went way beyond Tanner or this case. Why is it always Mommy or Daddy’s fault when people have a skewed perception of relationships?
Despite all of the emotional upheaval going on in Harvey’s life, the big resolution in this episode came from none other than Lewis Litt. After lying and scheming his way into more trouble than he knew how to get out of, Lewis finally tried the one thing he finds so incredibly difficult to do. He looked Jessica square in the eye and admitted his wrongdoing.
Jessica, in turn, did the one thing Lewis least expected. She backed him against the snide and thoroughly unlikeable Jack Soloff while, at the same time, backing Soloff into a corner. Jessica’s cunning never ceases to amaze but something tells me this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Mr. Jack Soloff.
