A space-travelling city inhabited by millions of different species.
What do you get when you mix sci-fi, action and fantasy violence? A Luc Besson movie, based on a sci-fi comic series; Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets promises to take you on a really wild sci-fi roller-coaster.
When Valerian is sent on a mission with the no-nonsense Laureline, the mission is quite simple; save the universe. Well, simplicity has no meaning to these two soldiers.
The movie is a colourful exotica; here are a few we picked out;
A shape-shifting Rihanna
Rihanna is known for her dance-floor prowess. The Barbadian plays an alien whoโs a victim of sex slavery; a performer in a sex club. Sheโs not just there for eye candy though, known as Bubble, she meets Valerian to help infiltrate enemy territory.
A virtual reality shopping mall
The Big Market is a hyper dimensional mall, filled with tourists and shoppers alike; theyโre strapped with VR goggles and wander around a desert. The stores exist in a different dimension and shoppers can โgrabโ items through a dimensional portal, which gives a whole new definition to consumer convenience.ย
Mind-reading jellyfish
Imagine a not-so-beautiful creature, with the futuristic ability to read your thoughts. Theyโre probably the last alien species you want to come across.ย
