It’s that time of year again.

It’s that time of year again. No, not Christmas; and not summer either. Well, it is summer, and we’re certainly feeling it, but what we’re actually talking about is, Movember.

Another name for it is No Shave November, which gives you a better idea what this event is about: not shaving. The mo in Movember comes from moustache, and refers to growing one in November.

Why, you ask? No, it’s not Charlie Chaplin Appreciation Month, nor an attempt to impersonate Tom Selleck or Burt Reynolds. It may seem like a lot of silly fun, but its aim and purpose is noble.

Started back in 2003 by two friends in Australia, the motivation behind Movember is to “change the face of men’s health” by raising awareness about prostate and testicular cancer.

In twelve years the movement has grown into a far-reaching phenomenon, supported not only in Australia, but also New Zealand, Canada, U.S.A, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Spain, Israel, Taiwan, the U.K. and, of course, South Africa.

To keep Movember on your mind, and the blade away, be inspired by these moustaches on M-Net Movies this month:
