Crime and Canada are back on M-Net Edge on Tuesday 11 August with the third season of Motive, starting at 19:00.
Set in Vancouver, British Colombia, it’s a crime series that, like long-running crime show Columbo, reverses the murder-mystery formula. At the beginning of the episode the killer and victim are revealed, with the rest of the episode detailing the events leading up to the crime – hence the show’s title.
It’s hardly the first show to be set in Canada, and not the first crime caper either. Cold Squad follows a team led by Sergeant Ali McCormick who investigate cold cases and, like Motive, is set in Vancouver. The show ran for seven seasons and Julie Stewart, who played McCormick, was the only character that appeared in all seasons.
Steering away from crime is the comedy Being Erica. Set in Toronto it focuses on a woman who is sent back in time by her therapist to relive and change events in her past.
Due South is a bit of an anomaly, because it’s not actually set in Canada. However, it details the story of a Canadian Mountie who travels to Chicago to find his father’s murderer, eventually choosing to stay and team up with a street-smart Chicago detective.
However, there are so many movies and shows set in Chicago, that we think it’s time you head to Canada for the third season of Motive, starting 11 August on M-Net Edge.
