Dominic Neill burst onto the music scene in Idols SA back in 2012, where he finished Top 7 (in the same season as Shekhinah and Kyle Deutsch). He’d been encouraged to enter by his friend, Idols alumni Graeme Watkins.

Subsequent to his exit from the show, Dominic formed the group The Illustrators and had hits with “Young Kings” and “What About Now?”. He also studied marketing and graduated with honours.

In 2016, following a boost to his solo career after he lent his voice to Joe Louis’ radio smash “Better Day”, his talents were recognized by Universal Music South Africa, who signed him.

Dominic later featured on DJ Kent’s massive single “Love You Still”, and his debut solo album ‘Out Of My League’ followed in 2017. Featuring production from Joe Louis and Jesse Porsches (a producer who has worked with Flume), it also included collaborations with The Voice Nigeria winner A’rese (on the title track) and Lady Zamar.

Sowetan Live referred to him as the new "It" boy on the music scene, and made favourable comparisons to J'Something.
