Lick your lips: this is how Love Island works!
Leandie du Randt, Love Island host

First things first: we don’t deal in contestants, but:

Islanders! Our buff and beautiful players live in isolation and under constant video surveillance in their…

Villa: This is where all the action happens. There are facilities to cook, socialize, sunbathe, swim, gym and sleep.

In order to survive Love Island, our players need to…

Couple up: Initially this is done on first impessions – the first Islanders couple up with little info on their partner. But being in a couple – for whatever reason: love or money or friendship – is essential to one’s survival in the villa.

Should that arrangement not work out, all bets are off when the Islanders…

Recouple: Having got to know one another, our lads and ladies get to make what they hope will be a more romantic arrangement. The introduction of…

Bombshells: will make this harder! ‘Bombshells’ is the term used to describe new arrivals at the villa – often they’ll be presented with an opportunity to steal someone else’s partner; sometimes they’ll be on the outs and hoping…

Eliminations: These can occur in various ways. Unable to couple up? You could be on the chopping block. Not the most popular couple in the villa? You could be ousted in a public vote. Or even by your fellow Islanders!

Ultimately, there’s only one winning couple, so even the fairest pairs will falter. And that winning couple choose to share or split the winnings.

Casa'd'Amor/The Hideaway: This is a luxurious and romantic private area that will be opened to couples as a reward – maybe winning a web poll, or a game. The Hideaway gives couples alone-time to talk privately and get to know each other better, and it has a terrace, cocktail set-up and a jacuzzi! Steamy times ahead...

The phrase to look forward to is…

“I got a text!” These text messages will contain instructions, often voted for by you, the viewer. It could be to send people on private dates, or even a night alone together. The texts can also be prompts to play…

A game: There are generally no prizes, but there’s plenty of opportunity for embarrassment! The games are all fun on the surface, but they can also be very revealing – some Islanders should really think about what they share with the production team!

Lastly, let’s look at…
