Pucker up, It’s International Kissing Day!
man and woman kissing

Whether you call it tongue wrestling, locking of lips, tonsil hockey, smooching or simply just kissing, we bring you interesting facts about this much loved way of showing affection.

Longest kiss ever

The longest kiss was recorded between a couple in Thailand who kissed each other for 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds. Now that’s a lot of tongue wrestling!

Kissing with your eyes closed

Have you ever wondered why most people don’t look at each other in the eyes when they lock lips?

Psychologists Polly Dalton and Sandra Murphy published a study in the Journal Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance. It showed that it’s really hard for the human brain to focus on other senses if there are visual stimulus getting in the way. As a result, humans close their eyes when kiss in order to allow the brain to properly focus on the task at hand.

The forbidden kiss

As much as it’s an expression of one’s affection towards another, in some cultures, kissing is considered illegal or taboo- especially if done in public.

Kissing keeps one in shape

Kissing enhances your metabolic rate, thus tiggering your body to burn calories. The longer the kiss, the more calories you burn! Ladies and gents, let’s get those summer bodies ready! 😉

Will you be celebrating International Kissing Day with a kiss? Do kiss and tell! ;)
