Friday 5 July

If you love dogs, you may not want to watch this. If you love dogs and John Wick you may want to, because this movie is all about Aaron Eckhart’s character, LAPD cop Jake Rosser, getting revenge for those responsible for his dog’s death in the line of duty. The movie is mostly about the thrills and the chases, but it does touch on the importance of human-canine relations, specifically with police dogs aka K-9s, as well as highlighting the horrific ways in which dogs are used in the illegal drug trade. Plus, Jake gets an awesome new partner in the form of the gorgeous canine, Socks.

Friday 12 July

If you love Olivia Colman, you won't want to miss her in this coming-of-age road movie. Set in Ireland, the film follows Joy (played by Colman) who goes on an unexpected road trip with her newborn and a 13-year-old boy who's on a mission to return the money his father stole from his mother's wake. This sounds like a great ride and is sure to pull your heartstrings too.

Nine Days

Friday 19 July

If you’re looking for something serious, there’s this existential film about five souls being interviewed by an arbiter who will decide whether they should be born into the world. It has an amazing cast led by Winston Duke as the arbiter, is directed by Edson Oda, (making his feature directorial debut), and has a wonderful soundtrack by Antônio Pinto.

The Exorcist: Believer

Friday 26 July

If you’re a horror movie fan, you can’t miss out on the latest Exorcist instalment. This is the sixth feature film in the franchise and features Ellen Burstyn, who reprises her role from the first film for the first time. Linda Blair, who played her daughter, also reprises her role, but she has done so before, appearing in Exorcist II: The Heretic. This time around evil’s victims are two young girls gripped by a terrible possession that unleashes the franchise’s mandatory freakiness and frights.
