the bachelorette sa season 1 gift guide

Qiniso bedazzled Aviwe in the latest episode of The Bachelorette SA…and we’re not just talking about how gorgeous she looked in that jacket-and-pants ensemble. During the cocktail party she pulled him aside to give him a very special, personalised gift from Jack Friedman Jewellers. Take a look.

This got us thinking about great gifts for men. And with Father’s Day just a few months away and a constant array of birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions to worry about, we decided to put together a list for you.

Personalised jewellery
If you’ve got the budget to back it up, then a personalised jewellery item like Aviwe’s is a must. It’s classy, it's personal, and will put a sparkle in your loved one’s eye.

A record player
This is a great one for music fans: an old-school record player. They’re all the rage right now, so you can even find modernised versions with built-in Bluetooth. If your man already has one, add to his collection with some great vinyl records of his favourite artists.

Sports team jersey
Whether it’s Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid, there’s nothing a sport-loving bae will love more than a jersey sporting his favourite team’s name.

Chocolates
We take exception to Forrest Gump saying: “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.” You ALWAYS know what you’re going to get. They’re not Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans! Rage aside, if your man has a sweet tooth, there’s nothing wrong with a box or two. Or get chocolate body-paint and make it a sweet date he’ll never forget.

A drink-making kit
Whether your man’s into gin or beer or whatever drink’s trendy at the moment, you can now get kits to make these at home. So keep him happy and busy with a gin- or beer-making kit and you’ll have the added delight of being able to knock back a few once he’s done. If he’s not the DIY-type, get an excellent bottle of whiskey, or whatever his preferred drink is. If you’re not drinkers, search for coffees or teas he’d love – or even a tea-tasting experience like Qiniso and Dylan had during their one-on-one; which brings us to the next item on our list…

An experience
Let’s be honest. We have enough stuff and clutter and junk in our lives. Cut down on all that extra paraphernalia and get your man an experience like bungee-jumping, a city bus tour, or a day driving a supercar. Pack his bags and take him on a surprise trip. Go wine tasting. Play a round of golf. Take him to his favourite restaurant or cook his favourite meal. There’s so much you can do and you’ll make lots of memories and get to spend time together – both of which are more valuable than anything else.

Go social
Social media’s full of enough hate and vitriol, so put it to good use by getting family and friends to write messages to your other half. Put these together with some special photos and post them on his preferred platform.
