These are our top picks of movies where games crossed over with reality.

Jumanji

In the 1995 adventure movie Jumanji, we saw Alan Parrish, played by the amazing Robin Williams, get sucked into the Jumanji board game. He was pulled back into the real world when two siblings played the board game 26 years later, unleashing the world of Jumanji into the real world. The 2017 sequel, Jumanji: Enter the Jungle, had a brand new cast that showed us what the world inside the game looks like when the new players are sucked into the video game version of Jumanji and are trapped in the jungle itself. Both movies displayed survival skills and gave us a wild adventure packed with incredible creatures and crazy villains. Two years later another sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level, was released.

Space Jam: A New Legacy

In the 2021 sequel to the Space Jam movie, basketball player LeBron James gets stuck in the Warner Bros Serververse, and his young son is kidnapped by computer genius and villain Al-G.  LeBron has to play and win against AI-G's team in a basketball tournament to get his son back. However, he first needs to secure a basketball league, so he and Bugs Bunny set off on an out-of-this-world adventure to track down the rest of the Looney Tunes gang.

Sonic the Hedgehog

The super-fast world of Sonic the Hedgehog crosses over with the real world in this live-action-adventure film. When Dr Robotnik, a robotics expert and mad scientist, played by the incredibly talented Jim Carrey, wants to use Sonic's superpowers for his personal gain, Sonic is thrown into a new adventure. The movie also stars James Marsden as the sheriff who gets lost in the game with Sonic and helps him battle Dr Robotnik. It is fun to see this timeless video game come to life with live actors playing alongside our beloved childhood hedgehog.

Free Guy

In this action-packed comedy, Ryan Reynolds is an ordinary bank teller who discovers he is stuck in a multi-player online video game and has to help a fellow player find a source code to stop a villain’s evil plans to take over the city.
