Driven by shock and grief, he embarks on a mission to clear his name and find out exactly what happened. Let’s take a look at other movies where the character was wrongfully accused and set out on a journey of exoneration.

The Fugitive

In this action-packed, award-winning 1993 movie, Harrison Ford plays a doctor named Richard Kimble who is framed for his wife’s murder. We watch as Richard cleverly makes his deadly escape from prison and sets out on a complicated mission to clear his name and find the true killer. The movie is filled with twists and turns and mystery and Ford delivers the goods when it comes to thrills.

Double Jeopardy

Starring the incredible Ashely Judd, Double Jeopardy was a thought-provoking movie that left audiences stunned. Judd plays Libby, a lady married to a wealthy man named Nick. One night she awakens on a yacht to find blood everywhere and Nick missing. She is accused of his murder and sent to jail. A major twist comes when she finds out he is alive and well, having faked his death and framed her for the murder. After doing time for a crime she never committed, she sets out to find him and her son and seek justice.

Wrongfully Accused

This 1998 comedy stars the loveable Leslie Nielsen as world-famous violinist, Ryan Harrison. Ryan is wrongfully accused of the murder of millionaire Hibbing Goodhue and sets out on a rather hilarious journey to piece together bizarre clues in order to find the actual killer. The movie is filled with funny gags, pokes fun at popular movies, especially The Fugitive, and Nielsen delivers his usual comedic best.

Conviction

This movie is based on the true-life story of Betty Anne Waters and stars Hilary Swank in the leading role. It covers Betty Anne’s long and difficult journey to clear her brother’s name of a murder he did not commit. Swank delivers a worthy performance, evoking all the emotions of a determined sister who will go to great lengths for her brother.

Minority Report

Set in the future, in 2054, this sci-fi thriller starring Tom Cruise follows a special police department called Precrime. Led by Cruise’s character Chief John Anderton, Precrime enables the police to apprehend criminals by using precogs that see the crime happening before it actually takes place. When Anderton is pre-accused of murdering a man he has not met, he is caught in a dangerous game, made even deadlier when he discovers minority reports: alternate visions of the future seen by one of the precogs. With Cruise in the lead, you know the movie is filled with non-stop action and death-defying stunts.
