She's always been unapologetically herself since we saw her in the controversial 1995 movie, Kids, her film debut. Since then she's only moved from strength to strength.

https://twitter.com/rosariodawson/status/1288199687611117569?So, we've narrowed it down to a mere five things that make Dawson ever-so-appealing.

One

She has graciously shared screen time with a scene stealer in Briarpatch, a giraffe! 😍 Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she gushes: "My heart would flutter every time, those big eyes and those eyelashes; they’re just such remarkable creatures. And we had quite a few really amazing animal co-stars in this that I wish I could talk more about, but they’re really good reveals."

Two

Dawson adopted Isabella in 2014, who was 11-years-old at the time. 😎 Dawson admits to Women's Health magazine that as parent she is both weird and funny. She's waited to get Isabella a cell phone and keeps her off social media, two things she's attributed to their growing trust between each other. “I think it would have been difficult to bond so late in her life, and in our lives together, if we’d had technology between us. My daughter looks me in the eye, and we talk to each other. I think that’s important.”

Three

She was attracted to Briarpatch because she says she's never done anything like it before. 🌟 "So often I’ve played the girlfriend or some story line device kind of character, and not that main protagonist in this way," she says when speaking to Entertainment Weekly.

"This woman [Allegra Dill, her character] has made some very clear choices about who she thinks she is and what her ambitions are, and to see it all kind of deconstruct and being able to explore that was very exciting, challenging, and intriguing."

It was really good for me and my spirit to know that I could take advantage of an opportunity like this and rise to the occasion.

Four

Dawson is an ardent supporter of representation. 👌 When asked by Associated Press about award shows not being as inclusive yet, she responds: "The gatekeepers of culture have looked in a very particular way for a really long time, and the reality is they still do. They had a very particular strong hold on want that content would look like. But now with streaming services, there’s demand and they’re starving for as much content as possible. So I think the financial aspect has definitely piqued people’s interest to be more inclusive and more representative."

Five

Alongside actor and comedian, Retta, Dawson co-hosts a podcast entitled And Nothing Less: The Untold Stories of Women’s Fight for the Vote in honour of the centennial ratification of the 19th Amendment and women’s right to vote in the US. ❎

“The full history of the women’s suffrage movement, the work of so many heroes who fought for and secured women’s right to vote, resonates profoundly today,” says Dawson on the PRX website. “It’s an honour to bring such powerful stories from our nation’s history to audiences everywhere.”
