#DWTSSA: What's in a Name

08 March 2018
Your guide to team names on Dancing with the Stars SA.

The Classic

Inspired by the name of the star, you can't beat the classic: short, sweet, and easy to remember.

Used by: Delron Buckley and Angelique Allison; Eden Classens and Ash-Leigh Hunter; Zola Nombona and Tebogo Mashilo.

The Hollywood

Inspired by a classic phrase referring to a certain Hollywood star.

Used by Connell Cruise and Marcella Solimeo.

The Mash-Up

A variation of the Hollywood, it's inspired by the habit of mashing celebrity couple's names together (see: Brangelina, Kimye, Bennifer).

Used by: Frank Opperman and Jeanné  Swart; Juanita de Villiers and Johan Dippenaar; Ryan Hammond and Liesl Laurie.

The Double

A variation of the mash-up, the double uses a part of a name that appears in both individuals' names. Also refers to teams that have more than one name.

Used by: Vanes-Mari du Toit and Johannes Radebe.

#TeamNesNes aka #TeamVanJo

The Simile

Inspired by an endearing comparison.

Used by: Thando Manana and Michelle Openshaw.
