Binnelanders

Against the backdrop of the high-end private hospital Binneland Clinic in Pretoria, the lives of the hospital staff play out as they help and heal their patients, in this medical drama/soap opera that is just what the doctor ordered.

7de Laan

7de Laan is a South African Afrikaans-language television soap opera that is set in and around the fictional 7de Laan (Seventh Avenue) in the suburb of Hillside, Johannesburg where all the characters live or work.

It tells the story of the effervescent community living in Hillside, the residents' interactions with each other, the gossip stories which spread like wildfire, the love and laughter of family and friends and the rivalry between Hilda and Matrone.

In 7de Laan there is the Oppiekoffie Coffee Shop managed by Charmaine Beukes. It's a favourite hang-out spot for coffee and scones and a bit of gossip on the side. There is also the Deli run by the beloved Hilda, whose passion is cooking and experimenting with food. Hilda's arch-enemy is Netta Nortje, the Matron of the Old-aged Home who always seems to be on the lookout for a quick buck, usually with disastrous results.

Hotel

An Afrikaans-language ‘mockumentary’ comedy series that revolves around the struggles of Ferdie Kruger, a middle-aged hotel manager trying to keep his rural, sub-par hotel’s doors open. The much larger Lourier Hotel Group buys The Fransen and sends a young consultant, to bring the small country hotel up to lofty standards, however, Ferdie and the young man have fundamentally different management methods, making the comedy revolve around their constant tussle for authority and ways of working on the hotel.

The series looks at the inner workings of a rural hotel and its staff, and a cautionary tale on how not to run a hotel.
